Solar Filter Performance

The Seymour Solar Filter is an excellent accessory for your telescope. The view is darker than most other filters, which means increased protection from the potentially harmful brightness of the sun. Its image has an orange tint and provides excellent visibility of granulation. However, it doesn’t have a lot of color filters. You won’t get to switch too much to get all the details you might want. Although, customers have said that it’s incredibly comfortable when adjusting for the sun’s brightness.

Maintenance Advice

Try to keep the Seymour Solar Telescope Filter away from any elements that could damage it (water, dirt and other obvious factors). Even though the aperture is scratch proof, you shouldn’t push it to the limits. If the solar filter suffers damage, its performance will decrease. That, in turn, could potentially open you for injury when viewing the sun.

Accessories

You don’t need accessories for the Seymour Solar Telescope Filter to work, but rather a telescope that is compatible with it. Check to see if yours is on our compatibility list above. This is of the utmost importance.

Warranty and Guarantee Information

Amazon has no clear information on warranty, but you can directly contact the manufacturing company for more details regarding this aspect.

Customer Feedback

Customer feedback is generally positive for the Seymour Solar Telescope Filter, aside from the customers who didn’t notice that the filter won’t fit their telescope. Also, a few complained that the product was expensive, but that’s understandable. It offers powerful protection against an equally powerful target like the sun.

Our Recommendation

To conclude, the Seymour Solar Telescope Filter is a great addition to your telescope accessory collection if you are curious about getting a closer look at the sun. You can use it for a wide range of sun viewing purposes and even capture some images if you have a high-quality camera. Just make sure that your telescope works with the filter and have fun using it!

  1. I purchased a Seymour Solar filter about 2 months ago and it is a quality filter for sure. I looked around for a solar filter at a few different places and the one thing I noticed is Seymour Solar has more sizes than any other Solar filter company. I think your list of telescopes that their filters will fit is incomplete. Thousand Oaks Optical says that thumb screws are a shortcut for companies to fit more sizes of telescopes yet they have less sizes than Seymour Solar. Just thought this information might be helpful so you can correct the compatibility issue.

  2. This isn’t a review, it is an advertisement. You havn’t said one damn thing about image quality or ANYTHING related to it.

    1. Hello, Robert! We got caught up in the safety aspects, but we have corrected the issue with details about the image quality of the filter and updated the information. Thank you for your notice and we will make sure to avoid these mistakes in the future!
